Nia will be a trendsetter and hope for many in line as the first black woman director for marvel. The official announcement was made by Disney and DaCosta herself on December 10,2020.

Nia will be the only fourth female to direct a Marvel movie after Chloe Zhao, Kate Shortland, and Anna Boden.
Earlier the reports of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel joining the cast of Captain Marvel 2 were also circulating in the media and public. Teyonah Paris is another name expected to be added to the star-studded cast of the sequel of Captain Marvel written by Iman Vellani.
