KPK Takes Step To Preserve Ancient Culture Of Kalash People
Kpk has permitted the formation of Kalash Valleys Development Authority in order to preserve the culture of the ancient Kalash tribe
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has permitted the formation of Kalash Valleys Development Authority in order to preserve the culture of the ancient Kalash tribe.
This is the first time in history that special authority has been established for the development in the area of Kalash community that is situated in the Chitral valley of KPK.
The historical Kalash community has a population of about 4000 people.
The document stated that any construction of new buildings in the residing area of Kalash people is prohibited and the relevant officials will make sure of it. It also said that all the development schemes for the Kalashi tribe will be monitored.
It further clarified that all pre-constructed buildings in the living area of the ancient tribe won't be demolished.
The purpose of the development authority is to preserve the ancient culture and to stop its deterioration.
Previously, the KPK government had announced the Kalash Marriage Act, which kept in consideration the ancient rituals and tradition of the small and aloof community in Chitral valley. The law will be presented in the assembly after all legal requirements are fulfilled.

The people of Kalash are of Dardic Indo- Aryan origin, these indigenous people have been living in the Chitral Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for thousands of years. They have a very rich and beautiful history.
