The public-sector Utility Stores Corporation (USC) announced the ‘Ramazan relief package’ on Thursday, approved by the federal government last month, reported by the news.
A special ‘Ramzan discount Package’ would begin from April 10 at all utility stores of the country at cheap rates, giving subsidy to more than 19 essential commodities.
As per the announcement, a subsidy of Rs10 per kilogram was announced on daal channa [pulse], on daal moong, and daal mash. Whereas, Rs20 per kilogram announced on besan [gram flour], on dates, on tetra pack milk, and Rs 20 to 45 on beverages.
Under the package, the per kg pulse gram will be offered at Rs 240, daal mash at Rs 255, the price of black pepper has been reduced by Rs 10, tetra pack milk Rs134 per liter, and tea (packet) is available at Rs869.
The other essential commodities prices have also reduced. The relief package comprises of reduction in prices of 14 essential items by 10 to 15 percent at the Utility Stores.
A subsidy of about Rs40 per kilogram has been given on sugar, ghee, and wheat flour under Rs 7.6 billion Ramazan relief package.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved Rs 7.6 billion Ramazan Relief Package on March 10.
